Greater New Orleans Foundation Response & Restoration Fund Grants $30,000 to Regional Nonprofits Providing Hurricane Barry Relief

On June 19, 2019, the Greater New Orleans Foundation hosted nonprofit and government leaders from across the region at our Nonprofit Disaster Preparedness Summit at the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI).

Tuesday, January 11, 2019, the Greater New Orleans Foundation hosted its biennial Celebration of Giving where Mrs. Gayle Benson was honored with the prestigious Greater New Orleans Foundation Spark Plug Award for Outstanding Philanthropy.

While the final numbers won’t be confirmed for several weeks, initial returns indicate that the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s GiveNOLA Day, powered by Entergy, generated an astounding $5,908,715 in donations for 752 nonprofits, exceeding its 2018 total of $5.6 million. The total number of online contributions exceeded 49,000 at the close of the 24-hour period.

Executive directors from eighteen nonprofits completed an intensive program designed to give leaders who have been in the role for three years or less the skills they need to succeed.

The Jumpstart Program is an intensive, 12-month program that provides participating nonprofits with a year of personal fundraising coaching and software to help diversify funding with more individual giving.

This three-day program will be led by Marla Cornelius and Hilda Polanco, CPA, CCSA, CGMA, Founder and CEO of FMA. Marla and Hilda will draw on promising practices from the field, relevant research, and their extensive experience working with nonprofit leaders.
