Job Announcement: Development Assistant

The Greater New Orleans Foundation seeks a collaborative, independent, detail-oriented, and motivated person for the new role of Development Assistant. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about providing technical support and bringing about efficiencies for the daily operations of the Donor Relations Department. The Development Assistant reports to the Vice President for Donor Relations and works closely with the Development Associate to ensure effective donor engagement and stewardship.

Required Qualifications

  • Expertise in processing and acknowledging charitable gifts and providing customer service support;
  • Ability to build out the Foundation’s CRM and generate reports to inform Foundation leadership regarding giving trends, metrics, and other key data;
  • Strong track record of keeping things and people organized;
  • High attention to detail and strong organization skills in scheduling, logistics, and coordination of activities;
  • Affinity for faithfully completing repetitive tasks, including meeting room scheduling and setup, cleanup and catering logistics, and Foundation telephone coverage support;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and collaborate within and across teams;
  • High degree of professionalism at all times;
  • Consistent ability to maintain and deliver accurate reports, lists, and gift acknowledgements;
  • Successful track record of providing prospect research, online and otherwise;
  • Ability to simultaneously support multiple team members, each with distinct priorities.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience);
  • Experience in working in a professional office environment (previous nonprofit or foundation experience preferred);
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office, nonprofit CRMs, project management software, and donor research tools;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
