Financial Leadership for Board Members

Financial Leadership for Board Members

April 28, 2026
12:00pm-1:30pm

Virtual

The Board of Directors serves as the governing body of a nonprofit and is charged with setting the strategic financial direction and ensuring the sustainability of the organization. But how should the board and leadership work together in attaining these goals? In this session, we will clarify fiduciary roles and responsibilities, explore the line between governance and management, and discuss how the board can set – and support – financial strategy in a time of uncertainty. Topics will include:

  • Understanding the board’s fiduciary oversight and their role in the financial performance management of the organization;
  • Where to draw the line between staff and the board in fiscal oversight; and
  • The board’s role in both setting and supporting the financial strategy of the organization, including a focus on reserves.
