Sarah Koenig

Senior Accountant

Sarah was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  She attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.  After graduating college, Sarah moved to Maui, Hawaii, where she met her husband, a professional chef with a long family history in Louisiana.  Their shared love of food, and his family roots, drew them to New Orleans.  Upon arrival, Sarah enrolled in the University of New Orleans where she completed the CPA preparation program in 2017.  During her time at UNO, Sarah participated in two internship programs at two public accounting firms, one with a “big four” accounting firm and the other with a regional accounting firm, LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors.  Sarah went on to accept a full time position with LaPorte, where she held the positions of both Staff and Senior in the Audit and Assurance Services department during her three year tenure.  In her capacity as Audit Senior, Sarah primarily served nonprofit clients, several of which were local foundations, including the Greater New Orleans Foundation.  Sarah joined the Greater New Orleans Foundation in 2021, bringing with her a strong knowledge and understanding of the accounting transactions and financial reporting requirements unique to nonprofit organizations.
