2023 Year End Gifts and Grantmaking

The Greater New Orleans Foundation looks forward to assisting you with your year-end giving. We are sharing these important giving and grantmaking deadlines to ensure your philanthropic goals are met.

Recommending Grants From Your Fund

Grant recommendations from donor-advised Funds submitted by December 15, 2023 will be processed by December 31, 2023. Grant recommendations should be submitted through your Donor Central account, or you can recommend a grant by email to nathan@gnof.org.

Making Gifts to the Greater New Orleans Foundation

All gifts submitted to the Foundation by December 31, 2023, will be credited as a 2023 contribution.

Checks or Cash delivered by U. S. Mail Must be postmarked on or before Sunday, December 31, 2023
Checks or cash delivered by private mailing service such as FedEx or UPS Must be received in our office by 5pm on Friday, December 29, 2023
Gifts of securities Will be acknowledged the day the securities are credited to the Foundation’s brokerage account. Please initiate your stock transfer by December 8, 2023, due to the high volume of transfers being processed by brokerage firms at this time. Please include the donor’s name/fund name in the reference section of the transfer.
Gifts made online Gifts can be made online at https://www.gnof.org/donate
Cash wire transfers Must be initiated by a date that will ensure the receipt of the funds by the foundation by Friday, December 29, 2023. Please include the donor’s name/fund name in the reference section of the transfer.
Mutual Funds Must be initiated by December 8, 2023, to ensure receipt before the end of the year. Please check with your broker on their internal timelines.
IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions As a reminder, qualified charitable distributions from an IRA cannot be used for donor-advised funds. They may be used for designated, field of interest, and other types of funds. Please contact us for help with these types of gifts.
Illiquid Assets and Real Estate We accept gifts of illiquid assets such as closely held stock, partnership interests, and real estate, among others. Gifts must meet the requirements of our Gift Acceptance Policy.  Please allow plenty of time for review and approval.

 

Please note, the Greater New Orleans Foundation will be closed on the following holidays:  Christmas Day (December 25), and New Year’s Day (January 1).  The office will close at 5pm on Friday, December 29, 2023.
