(February 7, 2017 | New Orleans, LA) To provide immediate relief to the families that suffered catastrophic loss due to the tornadoes that touched down in several neighborhoods throughout the region, the Greater New Orleans Foundation has opened the Helping Our Neighbors: Tornado Relief Fund. Proceeds from this fund will support nonprofit organizations in the Greater New Orleans area providing assistance to families who have suffered from the disaster.

“While it is too early to know the full extent of the devastation wreaked by the tornadoes, our experience in responding to hurricanes, the Gulf Coast oil spill and other disasters have fully prepared us to aggressively tackle both the immediate and long-term challenges our community is facing,” said Andy Kopplin, president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation.

The Greater New Orleans Foundation will utilize grants from the Helping Our Neighbors: Tornado Relief Fund to support effective, experienced nonprofits providing care for people with emergency needs and will determine the best way to support their crucial efforts and provide quick responses.
