New Orleans Institute for Resilience and Innovation
Bringing together the leadership of organizations that received grants from the Foundation’s Environmental Fund, the New Orleans Institute for Resilience and Innovation aims to:
foster the “connective tissue” between groups working to create vitality, resiliency, and sustainability across the city and region
kick off the renewed GNOF Environmental Fund initiative in such a way that allows grantees to learn what each of their counterparts is doing
provide opportunities for peer learning and support
explore the potential for collaborations that may help specific initiatives get to scale
and challenge grantees to consider the policy implications for their work and to build their capacity to help the city and region adopt policies that support vitality, resiliency, and sustainability.
From the United Houma Nation to the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic to the Lower Ninth Ward Urban Farming Coalition, these fourteen diverse groups will meet three times over the course of a year.
“Having these organizations in the same room and really brainstorming about what resilience is to them and to the greater New Orleans region will help us to understand what this region needs and will help them as organizations to understand what they need to build their capacity,” said Marco F. Cocito-Monoc, director of regional initiatives.
