Org Effectiveness
OVERVIEW
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina and the levee failures, many new organizations sprang up to address the immediate and pressing needs of recovery from the neighborhood level on up. This surge in activism and engagement holds great promise for the New Orleans region, but significant issues must be addressed to give this work the greatest impact. Often, dedicated nonprofit leaders and professionals struggle with inexperienced boards, overwhelming fundraising responsibilities, and a lack of resources to develop their own infrastructure and talent.
In response, we support emerging leaders and organizations, and we serve as a convener to build connections and relationships within the sector. We support training programs for nonprofit staff and board members. We also empower organizations in our region to be more competitive in their bids for state and federal funding. We believe these efforts will significantly build the sector’s capacity to address the most important needs of the communities they serve.
OUR WORK
We support innovation in this arena through:
Marguerite Casey Foundation
Our partnership with the Marguerite Casey Foundation will strengthen nonprofit organizations that work in our region’s low-income communities. The partnership is designed to help nonprofit leaders build the effectiveness of their own organizations by learning new ways to work with boards, conduct fundraising campaigns, and manage communications.
