Grants Awarded

The Greater New Orleans Foundation is pleased to announce the grant recipients from its first annual Community IMPACT Program. We had $1 million available in funding and we received a total of 368 letters of interest requesting well over $12 million. The Foundation reviewed all letters of interest and then extended an invitation to 65 nonprofit organizations to submit full proposals. The application process included a site visit by a staff member from the Foundation’s program department, a careful study of all financial information for the organization, and a review by the Foundation’s Grants committee. In addition to the nonprofits listed here, we have listed on our website the nonprofit organizations that we fully reviewed but were unable to support because of limited funding. We applaud whole-heartedly these extraordinary organizations that are contributing to the health and vibrancy of our region.

The Greater New Orleans Foundation would like to extend our appreciation to the donors who made the Community IMPACT Program possible.

Cliff: We were able to support many organizations that serve the entire metropolitan region, including St. Tammany.

Again, please consider Angels Place, Inc. I began our 501-c3 in 1997, after witnessing our 11 year old son Mark Gilford battle for his life from cancer for 11 months in 1993. BEing a Nurse in Surgery at Ochsner, it was the hardest thing our son, my husband and I had to endure and pray for a positive result. I made a sacred promise to God then to help other local children diagnosed with a life-threatening or terminal illness, and someday build Angels Place Children’s respite/end-of-life home in the GNO area for up to 8 children. I am still waiting for the acre of land, and meanwhile we are helping over 102 sick/dying children + siblings/parents = over 400!
We just held our annual Christmas Party at Rummel H.S. in Metairie with over 100 children attending + their parents and siblings. Everyone received a bag of donated new toys, gifts(from generous donors/ companies around our community. My phone number: 504-455-2620, Merry Christmas, and hope to hear from you.

I wish our local children’s charity, Angels Place, Inc., in Metairie since 1993, would have been selected. We have over 102 very ill and/or dying children in the GNO area we are helping with a staff of 2 F/T and 2 PT people. Add in the family members(Mom/Dad/Siblings) = over 400 being helped. Please notify us next year so we can submit an application. Angels Place, Inc., 4323 Division St, Suite 206, Metairie, La. 70002. Tele (504)455-2620. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!

As a Northshore resident why is there no St Tammany non-profits awarded grants??? Am I missing something?

Looks like you did a great job. Congratulations!
