Five years after Hurricane Katrina, the city of New Orleans is a different place. The storm devastated our community but provided an opportunity to build a “new New Orleans.” Thanks to your generosity, the Greater New Orleans Foundation was able to provide vital leadership in our recovery. Together with our funding partners, we:
- Supported the production of 6,700 new or rehabilitated housing units that families call home
- Helped rebuild and transform our public schools so every student could have access to quality education
- Led work to sustain our precious coastal environment
We moved quickly to help those impacted by the recent BP disaster. Through our support to the Southeast Fisheries Assistance Center, commercial fishermen and their families were given necessary resources to keep their businesses afloat.
This momentum must continue. Our Partners In Philanthropy Fund enables us to touch and transform lives. There is still a tremendous demand for housing. Many students fall short of reaching national academic standards. And we are far from ensuring our coastline communities will remain economically viable.
As our region moves from recovery to securing its future, we look to your continuing support. The Greater New Orleans Foundation is providing leadership that will ensure our region is given the resources to be a thriving and viable place to live. We cannot reach this goal alone.
Thank you again for helping New Orleans. I hope you will strongly consider continuing your partnership with the Foundation by returning the enclosed card. You can also go online to our website at www.gnof.org to make your donation.
