We took in 50 pit bulls from Hurricane Katrina and we still have a dozen remaining in our care in So. California while they wait for an adopter. In the meantime, they have aged, and with that their medical needs have increased and we have not received any funds for the long term care of these forgotten Katrina victims. Is there any plans for a grant for any of those animal rescue groups who still have these victims in their care?

The St, Bernard Volunteers for Family and Community has received an Exxon Mobil grant for 2008 and 2009 for our Christmas Tour of Homes. Please let us know when the 2010 grant applications will be ready.

GNOF replies: Nora, the 2010 application will be posted today July 23rd. The deadline is August 20th.

Thanks, Lauren. Our organization is a church not an arts and culture organization. We are restoring church documents and books that relate to the 1880s history of the settlement of New Orleans. Will that meet the criteria?

How can we apply for a Kellogg grant?

What parts of Algiers are eligible for the Exxon Mobil Grant?

Lauren, organizations from Algiers applying to the Exxon Mobil Grant must reside in the class boundaries designated in the settlement. The boundaries consist of the triangle–shaped area starting at the point where the Intercoastal Canal meets the Mississippi River, Northwest along Patterson, South on Kabel Drive and Lennox Boulevard, East on Tullis, following the Intercoastal Waterway back to Patterson.

I know that the Exxon Mobil grant is given out each year. When is the deadlines for applications? What part of Algiers is eligible for the grant? I had heard that only certain parts of Algiers could apply.

Lauren: The Exxon Mobil advisory committee meets each summer to establish that year’s deadline. One has not been set up yet, but please sign up for our email newsletter to be kept informed of when the deadline is announced.
