Myer Epstein Bishop Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded by the family of Myer Epstein Bishop to one graduating senior from Ascension Parish on an annual basis. Myer Bishop was a “lover of life.” He truly enjoyed every aspect of life, from agriculture to the arts. He was always excited to learn and was very committed to education. His legacy will live on through this scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must meet the following criteria:
- Graduating senior in good standing in Ascension Parish.
- Plans to attend a four year college or a community, technical or vocational college program as a full time student.
Your completed application package must include the following materials:
- Completed scholarship application.
- A one- to two-page typed (font 12pt) double space essay, on one of the following topics:
1) Who in your life has been your biggest influence and why?
2) How do you plan to impact your community?
3) How has your education contributed to who you are today?
Award Process:
Students are selected for the Myer Epstein Bishop Scholarship based on promise of continued academic achievement and their essay. The scholarship committee will make the final decision on the award. Each applicant will be notified of the committee’s decision in writing.
Administration:
- The scholarship is a one-time payment of $1,000
- After the scholarship administrator receives an official notice of full-time enrollment, the scholarship award of $1,000 will be sent directly to the recipient’s college/university.
- Applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2012.
