Deadline for nonprofits to sign up on GiveNOLA.org is March 1, 2016
Northshore goals set at $100,000 from 5,000 donors for 50 area nonprofits
New Orleans, LA (February 24, 2016) – The Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) officially announces the third annual GiveNOLA Day Northshore, a regional, 24-hour online giving day benefiting nonprofits in St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes taking place on May 3rd from midnight to midnight. Last year, GiveNOLA Day Northshore received $72,736 from 970 donations for 43 participating nonprofits. This year, the goals for GiveNOLA Day Northshore are to raise $100,000 through 5,000 donations for 50 participating nonprofits.
“This is the one day we come together to give as one,” said Albert Ruesga, president & CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation and administer of the regional giving day. “Together we’re going to ignite the generosity of the region and raise an astonishing $4.5 million for our area nonprofit organizations.”
Adding to the fun this year, GiveNOLA Day Northshore will host an event at the Covington Trailhead on May 3, 2016, from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm. The event will happen in conjunction with the Covington Farmers Market and will include live music throughout the day. Interested nonprofits that sign up for GiveNOLA Day Northshore by March 1, 2016, will have the opportunity to participate in the event at the Trailhead on May 3rd.
“We applaud the efforts of the Mayor Cooper, the City of Covington, and the participating nonprofits form the Northshore who are working tirelessly to make the day a success,” said Ruesga.
GiveNOLA Day Northshore is part of GiveNOLA Day, which is tied to a national event called Give Local America where community foundations across America ask their communities to give back on May 3, 2016. In its inaugural year, GiveNOLA Day shattered all goals and raised an astonishing $2.2 million; last year’s GiveNOLA Day resulted in $4 million. GNOF is proud to announce its goal of raising $4.5 million for the third annual GiveNOLA Day.
All donations made through www.givenola.org on May 3, 2016, go directly to participating nonprofits working on a broad range of issues: arts & culture, animal welfare, community improvement, education, environment, health, housing, human services, public safety & crime, and youth development. GNOF does not collect any fees from contributions in order for the nonprofit organizations to receive the maximum benefit.
The deadline for nonprofits to apply for GiveNOLA Day Northshore is Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Any 501(c)(3) organization located in and serving GNOF’s 13-parish region is welcome to participate in GiveNOLA Day.
