Job Announcement: Director of Workforce Programs

The Greater New Orleans Foundation seeks a collaborative, independent, results-oriented, and motivated person for the role of Director of Workforce Programs. The successful candidate will be a content expert in the field of workforce development with a passion implementing, developing, and managing strategies and initiatives that improve opportunities for entry-level and middle-skilled workers across the region to embark and advance upon career pathways, as well as help move families towards their full economic potential. The Director of Workforce Programs reports directly to the Vice President of Programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Expertise designing, implementing, and leading workforce development partnership efforts including, but not limited to, program development, project goals and outcomes, evaluation measures, employer job needs, worker skill sets and competencies, curriculum development for training, worker recruitment process, and participant tracking;
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships across sectors and between organizations to attract funding and to align the policies, strategies and resources of the region’s workforce system;
  • Experience in program strategy and oversight, including identification of policy areas for potential advocacy work; creation and management of the annual budgets; onboarding, training and supervision of team members; and program evaluation and reporting;
  • Expertise across the grantmaking and funding cycle, including portfolio development, grantmaking oversight, proposal development, and grant monitoring;
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating, engaging, and stewarding donors.
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Knowledge of best practices and the policy landscape regarding workforce development on a local, regional, and state-wide level.
  • Ability to hold sensitive information in the strictest confidence;
  • High level of self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and exceed goals;
  • Aptitude for conceiving and executing special events of various sizes;
  • Exceptional oral, written and presentation communication skills.

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience);
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in workforce development or related policy areas;
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office;
  • Background working with community foundations, civic leadership organizations, workforce training programs, or similar organizations;
