August 2008
As the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches, the board and staff of GNOF would like to say thank you for what you are doing to help rebuild New Orleans through your time, energy and contributions. Generous individuals, families, foundations and corporations have responded to the needs of our community. Our partners have made it possible for the Foundation to grant over $41 million to organizations working on recovery efforts. On the occasion of this anniversary, please allow us to share with you our profound and genuine appreciation.
Rebuilding the housing stock of New Orleans continues to be a focus of the Foundation through the Community Revitalization Fund. In the latest round of grants through the CRF, a total of $1.2 million grants have been awarded to four organizations who are meeting a pressing need and are investing in the production of affordable housing.
August 22 is the deadline to apply for Cox Charities Grants. Cox Charities awards grants to improve the quality of life for people in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles and St. Bernard parishes. Grants will be awarded to organizations that support programs for ages seven to fourteen and for grassroots neighborhood-based nonprofits involve in community recovery.
