Bobby McIntyre’s Blunderful Erl

img_1523Local philanthropist and jazz musician Bobby McIntyre knows that once you can find the humor in the gravest of situations then you know you’ll be able to survive it. “Sometimes, you just need a little lightness,” said McIntyre when asked why he wrote What a Blunderful Erl, a parody on Louie Armstrong’s 1968 hit.

What A Blunderful Erl?

I saw marsh grasses green and sand that was white
‘Til the BP blowout that nightmarish night
And I think to myself…
Listen below!

The song was performed by the Last Straws-a jazz group founded by McIntyre in 1953 and includes Mize Licciardi on piano, Bill Lee on soprano saxophone, Joan Pizzolato on banjo, and Bobby McIntyre on drums.

All proceeds from the sale of the song will go directly to the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund at the Greater New Orleans Foundation, where Bobby McIntyre was chairman of the board several disasters ago.
