Purpose

The purpose of the Norco Community Fund, a Donor Advised Fund of The Greater New Orleans Foundation, is to improve the quality of lives for people in Norco. An advisory committee of business and civic leaders meet annually to review grant requests in all program areas relative to the designated areas. These program areas are arts and humanities, community development, education, environment, human services, health care, community building, and youth development.

The Fund will only consider support for programs that serve the Norco community and its residents. The following types of funding will be considered:

  • grants that support new, creative or beneficial programs;
  • capital fund grants for new construction or major renovations;
  • seed money grants to help start a new organization which responds to an important opportunity in the community;
  • bridge grants to sustain organizations experiencing unusual financial hardship.
  • grants to organizations with a positive track record.

Norco Community Fund Application

Is there a grant available this year? The last posted deadline was December 2010. Also, as a business located in Norco, would making the busniess handicap accessible/parking apply? Thank you!!

I am wondering if my business would be eligble for Norco Community Frund Grant Money. I own a hair salon in Norco on the corner of River Road and Goodhope. I purchased the building which is the old bank building. I am looking to improve parking for our customers, make the entrance and parking handicap accessbile and also beautification for the corner by creating a garden around the street sign on the corner. Any information would be helpful.

Angela,
I’m afraid that only nonprofit organizations (those with a 501c3 determination letter from the IRS) are eligible to apply for assistance from this fund.

Do you offer one-time funding to new projects by state agencies?

While such support is conceivable, the Norco Community Fund gives priority to locally-based nonprofits in an effort to build service.
