The Community IMPACT Program for 2009 is closed.

Thank you to all the nonprofit organizations that submitted a letter of intent for funding from the Community IMPACT Program. The response was overwhelming. We received 368 applications, totaling $12 million in requests. Unfortunately, we only have $1 million to distribute in this grantmaking cycle. The nonprofit organizations that are invited to submit full proposals for the Community IMPACT Programs have been notified.

Sign-up for our Email newsletter to be notified of 2010 deadlines.

GNOF replies: Tony, we have not yet posted the request for proposals for our 2010 Community IMPACT grants. Please sign up for our e-newsletter in order to be informed of when the RFP is posted (http://www.gnof.org/email-newsletter-sign-up/).

Are grants still being accepted for 2010 funding cycle?

Dan, we will be announcing the deadline in early July. Be sure to sign-up for our email newsletter to stay informed. Many thanks.

Are there any grant deadlines for 2010 impact grant applications?

GNOF replies: Angelina, the Community Revitalization Fund accepts applications on a rolling basis. Please visit the Community Revitalization section on our website for instructions on applying.

Is it too late to apply for a community revitalization grant!

Richard: The Greater New Orleans Foundation is the custodian for many so-called “donor-advised funds.” These are funds established and used by individuals, families, corporations, and other entities to do grantmaking. Most (if not all) of the grants to charter schools come from those funds — they’re not made at the recommendation of the GNOF staff or broard.

GNOF supports many public schools, particularly charter schools. Under which grant program(s) does GNOF provide this support?

Rachel: Yes, organizations working with a fiscal agent are eligible.

Are nonprofit organizations eligible if they do not possess 501(c)3 status, yet are working with a fiscal agent?

GNOF Replies: Ms. Irwin, the Community IMPACT Fund is currently accepting one application per organization. Thank you for your inquiry into this funding opportunity.

Here is a question I don’t see addresses. Is it possible for an agency to submit letters of intent for two separate projects (not general support) in different categories?

We’ve contacted our web gurus and apparently it’s a problem for people who use Internet Explorer 6 or 7. The problem has now been fixed. Just as an aside, scuttlebutt is that IE6 caused so many problems in so many ways that it’s no longer supported by Microsoft. “Commit it to the flames!” as David Hume once said.

I also tried to print - it wanted to print out 39 pages! I put the information into a Word Document instead, and it was 8 pages long when I did that….

Hi, LaShawna. I was able to print the announcement at home without any problem, using the Print button. After you hit the “Print” button and the print dialogue box comes up, you might need to adjust your print preferences. Another possibility is to cut and paste the text into a Word file.

Finally, you can e-mail our grants administrator, Amy Forsyth at amy@gnof.org, to request a copy of the RFP.

I was unable to print this properly. There seems to be a problem with the print button function above.
