About Us

about-us-montage

The ultimate goal of the Greater New Orleans Foundation is to create a resilient, sustainable, vibrant community in which individuals and families flourish and in which the special character of the New Orleans region and its people is preserved, celebrated, and given the means to develop. We believe the Foundation has a critical role to play in attaining this goal, as community leader and convener; as champion of civil society; and as supporter of effective nonprofit leaders and organizations. By serving as a philanthropic partner to members of the donor community, we can help add meaning and value to the giving of individuals, families and institutions, increasing the effectiveness of their philanthropy and connecting them with the very best nonprofit work in Greater New Orleans and surrounding regions.

Keyshaun,
Please sign up for our newsletter. It is the best way to hear about various housing funding opportunities. To help young woman get their GED, please visit the Youth Empowerment Project website for more information.

The non-profit org. im affiliated with just received our 501()3 status and we are wondering how do we start to look and apply for grants.?

GNOF replies: Hi Monique, you may want to refer to the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (http://www.lano.org) and the Foundation Center (http://foundationcenter.org) as starting points for your grant search. Also, be sure to sign up for our e-newsletter, which will keep you informed on all our grant opportunities (http://www.gnof.org/email-newsletter-sign-up/).

I read online that GNOF offers fiscal sponsorship to non-profits that are not 501c3. Is this so, and if so, what is the process of applying?

Thanks for your message, Hillary. Unfortunately, what you read isn’t true. We’re not a nonprofit incubator like the Tides Center, for example, so we’re not in the business of offering fiscal sponsorship to nonprofit organizations. We might on occasion function as the fiscal sponsor for an initiative led by GNOF or in which GNOF has a significant role, but these occasions are very rare.
